The Company
Benesch is an AmLaw 200 business law firm known for sophisticated legal work for national and international clients. The firm is growing quickly, from roughly 750 employees when it partnered with Bundle to about 900 today, with plans to keep expanding. Attorneys at Benesch have always had well-established training paths. The professionals who keep the firm running, from office administrators to operations managers, had far fewer options. As the firm grew, that gap started to matter.
The Challenge
Rapid growth meant more people stepping into management roles across the firm's business operations, often without formal leadership training. HR knew development was overdue, but a generic course was not going to cut it. They needed to understand where each employee actually was, what skills they needed to perform, and how to build them, one person at a time.
- Growth Outpacing Development: Headcount was climbing more than 30 percent year over year, and leadership development had not kept pace.
- Two Tracks of Talent: Attorneys had their own established training. Business professionals and their managers had almost none.
- Different People, Different Needs: Employees ranged from first-time supervisors to managers with decades of tenure, so one-size-fits-all training was a nonstarter.
The Solution
Benesch partnered with Bundle on a multi-year program of live, one-on-one training with expert trainers. Every employee followed a structured pathway matched to their role and experience level, with programs built for managers and new managers covering skills like effective communication, coaching and feedback, executive presence, and leading difficult conversations. Rolling starts let the firm enroll people exactly when development was needed, whether someone was newly promoted or preparing for a bigger role, and Bundle handled the setup, scheduling, and engagement throughout.
The Results
The program earned near-perfect marks and kept earning them, across every employee, pathway, and skill for two years running.
- Near-Perfect Ratings: Employees rated the program 4.9 out of 5 for overall experience, trainer effectiveness, and engagement, with 4.8 for relevance to their role, across more than 75 rated sessions.
- Everyone Would Recommend It: Session feedback produced a Net Promoter Score of 74, with zero detractors across two years of responses.
- Applied the Next Day: In their comments, employees kept pointing to the same thing: practicing real situations from their own teams and leaving with tools they used immediately.
- Growth People Could Feel: Managers described being pushed outside their comfort zones in the best way, from role-playing difficult conversations to getting real-time feedback they were not getting anywhere else.
The Future
Benesch sees leadership development as part of how the firm grows. New Leadership Development cohorts launched in 2026, with a mix of new managers, experienced managers, and high-potential leaders preparing for bigger roles. The firm is creating a dedicated L&D role to expand the program, rolling out manager dashboards so leaders can follow their teams' progress, and planning to use Bundle's Training Plan Builder to involve managers directly in shaping each employee's development. The goal is a firm where the people running the business grow as fast as the business itself.
