Tips to Encourage Your Workforce in Team Building Events

Discover how to strike the right balance between in-person and remote work to boost creativity, collaboration, and overall well-being.

Team Building

We get it – the daily grind of in-person work can have its challenges. The office environment, with its distractions and chilly temperatures, may not always be the most inviting. On the flip side, remote work can sometimes blur the lines, making it tough to disconnect from the computer. These factors can lead to fatigue, burnout, and hinder your creative and collaborative spark. At Bundle, we're here to help you find that perfect balance.

True Team-Building

To start, make sure you ask your employees what kind of team-building activities they want to participate in. They may have some ideas that you hadn't considered before, and employees will be more likely to participate in an event if they feel like their voice is being heard and listened to. It's just as important to check in with them after to see how the event went. If they didn't think the activity was effective or fun, then you’ll know to plan a different event next time.

Whole Person Wellbeing

Not all people have the same desires and preferences, so it's essential to be cognizant of this when planning an event. Some people may be more introverted than others, while others may be more extroverted. Additionally, some employees avoid participating in group activities because they prefer working alone or being around a small group instead. That’s why it’s so important to offer different events throughout the year so all employees are able to participate. Bundle understands that everyone in the workplace has different strengths and weaknesses, which is why we offer a wide variety of learning modalities that are available on-demand when you need one.

Be Willing to Invest in Yourself and Your Employees

Part of team-building activities is showing employees you care about them. Another way to do that is by offering them training opportunities, mentorship programs and access to skill development solutions that they can use to hone their skills and advance their careers. It also means investing in yourself and growing your leadership skills. Becoming a more effective leader will help your entire team be more successful and collaborative.

Don't Over Schedule

Don't cram too many activities into one day. It will be overwhelming for everyone involved and can leave people with a bad taste in their mouth, instead of feeling energized and connected. Try having various events spread over time so people can choose which ones they want to attend based on what they’re interested in and what works for their schedule

The same goes for calendar years. Try not to plan too many events in one year as this will become overwhelming for your employees. Once a month might not be right for some teams, so maybe once a quarter works better. Finding the right balance is just as important as finding the right activity.

There is no right or wrong way to encourage participation in team-building events.
